Scholar Forensics

Privacy

Short version: we collect only what is needed to answer you, keep it for a limited time, and do not share it or use it for marketing.

Who is responsible

{{CONTROLLER}}. Contact for any privacy question: hello@scholarforensics.com.

The request form

What we collect: the journal address, platform, what happened, since when, your role (optional), your details text, and your email address. We also record the page you came from (for example the free check or a link on another site) so we know which pages are useful.

Why: to reply to your request and to scope an investigation. We do not use it for marketing and do not share it with anyone.

How long: 90 days, then it is deleted automatically, unless we start an engagement. Engagement records follow the engagement agreement.

Spam protection: to limit abuse we keep a one-way hash of your network address for up to one day. We cannot read the address back from it.

The free check

You enter the address of one article. Our server fetches that public page and a few related public files (robots.txt, sitemap, the PDF, the DOI record, the Crossref record) and shows you the result. We do not store the page content. We keep the result, including the address you entered, for 24 hours so a repeated check is fast, and a one-way hash of your network address for one hour to limit the number of checks.

Cookies, analytics and third parties

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as network addresses) to deliver pages and may keep short-lived logs. The pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google when a page opens.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion by writing to hello@scholarforensics.com. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you can also complain to your data protection authority.
